Trinit-E-Connection – This Week at Trinity Lutheran
September 8th, 2010
A Mission Outpost in a Troubled World

***Four Mile Canyon Fire Update on Trinity Members…We estimate that Trinity has 14 families who have been evacuated due to the Four Mile Canyon fire. All have places to stay as far as we know. Also, sadly, according to the Boulder Office of Emergency Management, Dan & Diana Breed’s home address is on the list of homes destroyed by the fire. We do not know of anyone else’s home yet that is confirmed destroyed, or what help the Breeds need at this point, but we will let you know once we do. In the meantime, please keep the Breeds, and all who are working the fire, and everyone affected by the fire, in your prayers.

Sunday Notes
Bible Sunday…THIS Sunday, Trinity’s 3rd & 6th graders will be receiving Bibles from their parents as a part of worship. Parents, please remember to bring the Bibles along to church.
9:00am Thrivent Choice Information Session…Thrivent members should have received in the mail last week information about how to designate your Thrivent Choice dollars to a Lutheran-based organization or church of your choice. We have received some questions about this process, and so we are offering one Information Sessions THIS Sunday, September 12th and two more on Sunday, September 19th to help explain your options. If you have your letter from Thrivent, please bring it to this session. If not, do not worry, you can still access your information. Thanks!

9:30am Adult Education Class: Making Sense of Scripture…Using Dr. David Lose's book, Making Sense of Scripture, you are invited to engage in a conversation that might happen around a kitchen table about seven major questions of the Bible. This study invites you to bring your questions or doubts to the table when reading Scripture. Also, books for this class are now in for those of you who ordered one. If you did not order one, and you would still like to get one through Trinity, you MUST let the church office know by 6pm TODAY, Wednesday September 8th. Otherwise, you will be on your own to get your book. Thanks!

9:30am Cultivating a Personal Prayer Life Class Begins…Casey Burnett is leading a class on learning, practicing, and discussing a few prayer forms, meeting on the second Sunday of the month, and it starts THIS Sunday, September 12th at 9:30am in the Conference Room. Discussion will be structured to support your intentional daily connection with God in prayer by focusing on personal practice and experience.

11:45am ELCA Benevolence Listening Session…The Church Council is beginning its work on the 2011 Ministry Spending Plan to be approved at the October Annual Meeting. If you would like to give input on the benevolence to the ELCA, the Council is holding another listening session THIS Sunday at 11:45 am in the Chapel to hear from Trinity members.

11:45am New Member Class…If you are interested in joining Trinity, or just learning more about Trinity, join us THIS Sunday for a 5 week class starting at 11:45am in the upstairs Conference Room. Lunch will be provided, but we ask that you let the church office know if you need childcare so we can have that arranged if necessary. Questions, contact Pastor Mark.
12:00pm Second Sunday Lunch for Hungry…Trinity is serving lunch to the Hungry THIS Sunday, September 12th and we still need another 5 or 6 volunteers to help serve that. If you can help, please reply to this email so we know how many helpers we have. Thanks!
