The purpose of the Planned Famine includes: raising funds to help fight hunger, learning about the causes and effects of hunger, experiencing hunger first hand, paticipating in a service project, worship, fellowship and fun. This year's theme is "LOVE Hungry" and is based on Jesus' words in Matthew 25, "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink."
The youth are collecting pledges to help raise money for ELCA Good Gifts for God’s Global Barnyard, a gift-giving arm of the ELCA that gives chickens, cows, goats, wells, water pumps, etc to those in need around the world. Look for the youth to be wearing bright red nametags and consider supporting their effort to “Love Hungry.” You can still support the youth with a donation on THIS Sunday, February 27th.

THIS Sunday, February 27th is the Eighth Sunday After the Epiphany. Our worship lessons will be Isaiah 49:8-16a; Psalm 131; 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 and Matthew 6:24-34.

9:15am and 11:45am Discernment Process: Bible Study 1....Trinity voted in October 2009 to enter a discernment process to determine whether we as a congregation will "recognize, support, and hold publicly accountable couples who wish to have lifelong, monogamous, same-gender relationships". That discernment process began on Sunday, January 23rd. This week is Bible Study 1, including tools of interpretation & how we read the Bible. As are all Discernment Process events, these sessions will be recorded for those who can't join us. The Church Council, however, encourages everyone to take part in this process so that when we get to the point of making a decision, we have walked through the various issues and information together. So please plan to join us at 9:15am or 11:45 am in the Chapel! Childcare will be available for both sessions.

11:45am Storytime Potluck with Hugh McGinty…Please bring a dish to share and plan to join us after the 10:30 worship service down in the fellowship hall for our Storytime Potluck. We’ll share lunch and then Hugh McGinty will share his life story with us, including what it is was like to be a tailgunner during WWII and participate in the Berlin Air Lift.

Lenten Bible Study… During Lent the Adult Ed Committee is sponsoring a Lenten Small Group Bible Study, gathering in small groups of 5-8. Each participant may need to purchase our study book, the Kingdom and the Cross which will be in the $6 - $8 range. Even if your schedule doesn’t allow you to join us for the bible study time, you can still sign up to get the book! Look for forms in the Sunday bulletin to indicate your interest and level of participation. This form is due back to the church office by Sunday, March 6. Groups will be announced Ash Wednesday, March 9, and the study will begin the week of March 13. Questions may be directed to Pastor Mark.

Church Campout, August 5-7th…Join other Trinity campers for a weekend of fun and fellowship in God’s beautiful outdoors in Leadville, Colorado. We have initially reserved 19 sites. If you would like to reserve one of those spots, please fill out a green Registration Form (in the Narthex), attach your $45.00 reservation fee to the form, and turn it in to the church office (on Melanie's desk) by Sunday, May 15th. Checks can be made payable to Trinity Lutheran, write “Campout” on the memo line.

Reminder: Discernment CD’s Available…If you have missed a Discernment session, remember that CD’s and corresponding handouts/presentations are available in the box in front of the stained glass window in the narthex. Also, if you got a CD for the February 6th session on Church History 2, the content on the CD was all on there but the tracks were not in the correct order. Feel free to toss that CD and pick up a corrected CD (with tracks in the correct order) next time you are at Trinity.

Reminder: Pick up Picture Directories...Those who had their pictures taken or submitted a picture, please be sure to pick up the new Trinity Picture Directory, found on the table in the narthex in front of the stained glass window. If you didn't get your picture taken but would still like a copy of the directory, please sign up on the clipboard in the narthex next to the directories box. Thanks!
