Sunday Notes
9:15am Discernment Process: Church History 1… Trinity voted in October 2009 to enter a discernment process to determine whether we as a congregation will "recognize, support, and hold publicly accountable couples who wish to have lifelong, monogamous, same-gender relationships." That discernment process began on Sunday, January 23rd.
This week’s topic is Church History 1: How has the Church looked at this issue in the whole of it's history [9:15 only]. As are all Discernment Process events, this event will be recorded for those who can’t join us at 9:15am. The Church Council, however, encourages everyone to take part in this discernment process so that when we get to the point of making a decision, we have walked together through the various issues and information. So please plan to join us at 9:15am in the Chapel!

11:45am Congregational Meeting…THIS Sunday, immediately after the end of the 10:30 worship service, we will have our January Congregational Meeting. We’ll get a report on End of Year Finances from 2010, and hear an update from the Trinity Horizons Committee. Childcare and lunch are provided to keep up our energy. So, plan to stay and be a part of the meeting!

Tax Information…A provision in the tax bill recently passed by Congress reinstates the ability of those age 70-1/2 years and older to make distributions of up to $100,000 per tax year from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) directly to a charity of their choice without having to claim it as income. Since the tax bill was passed so late in December, the act allows for a charitable distribution made through January 31, 2011, to be claimed as a 2010 gift.

Souper Bowl of Caring, Sunday, February 6th…This national event, held every year on the same Sunday as the NFL's Super Bowl, is led by youth who collect money or canned food to support local, national and international anti-hunger efforts. In 2010, $10 million in food and cash was raised across the country. Trinity’s high school youth will again be collecting food and non-food items for Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) after the 8 am and 10:30 am services. Please bring the following items next Sunday, February 6th, breakfast cereal, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned whole kernel corn and canned chili, and place them in the designated collection containers in the narthex. Monetary donations and grocery gift cards are always appreciated too (please put them in the Souper Bowl of Caring collection box, also in the narthex).

Help Needed…Trinity’s Fellowship Committee is looking for a few folks to help coordinate the upcoming Lenten Soup Suppers (begin Wednesday, March 16th). If you are interested in helping with this, contact Jane Deutschmann at 303-499-5739. Thanks!
