A Mission Outpost in a Troubled World

A Note from Pastor Mark regarding Sunday’s Congregational Meeting
At the congregational meeting on Sunday, May 22nd, those present voted 104 to 23 in favor to "recognize, support, and hold publicly accountable life-long, monogamous, same gender relationships." We have taken on a difficult topic and the discernment process (regardless of the decision) has been courageous, faith-filled, Spirit-led, and done well. Thank you.

Following this decision, as we move forward in the days ahead with each other, it is important for us to remember that our feelings run the whole spectrum - from happiness for those who wondered if they really belonged, and now feel that they do, to sadness for those who felt they belonged, and now wonder if they still can. We also remember that we are called to live St. Paul's words with each other: As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. (Colossians 3:12)

So in the days ahead, as we continue to work this all through we embrace what has worked well for us in the past:
 pray for the Lord's guiding,
 search his word,
 risk our thoughts and feelings in conversation and discussion,
 trust the Holy Spirit working in the other,
 trust the process,
 and respect and hold each other in love.

See you Sunday.

Pastor Mark
